Recipe Box Swap

Wow!  I can't believe it's been two months since my last post - bad Mely, very bad girl!  So sorry.  Well here I am again and I wanted to update you and post some pictures of my latest projects.

I joined Kay's Altered Recipe Box swap back in August where I had to alter a recipe box, make recipe cards and tabs, and include four of my own recipes.  This swap was one that I stressed over.  These darn boxes were not cooperating with me and I really wanted to make something nice for my partner, so after THREE boxes lol, I was finally satisfied with the outcome and here it is :)  What do you think?  Cute right?  Well, I think so lol.  Anyway, I'd like to thank Kay at http://www.kayluvs2scrap.blogspot.com/ for being an awesome host and for hosting a very fun swap.  I just finished this one and shipped it out and already I'm signed up for her next swap, "Use What Ya Got Junk Journal Swap" - super excited about this one since it will be my first junk journal swap.  Thanks Kay!

Two in one day, I'm on a roll!!!

Okay so here's another post, yep one right after the other.  It's been so HOT here in San Dimas, CA.  Nice, but HOT!  Today is supposed to be the hottest day and I'm dreading having to step outside.  Since I'm a mom and wife AND I love to cook, I was thinking about what to make for dinner that wouldn't make my house even hotter than it is.  I'm sure you cooks know how it is, even though you have the AC going, when you're cooking the kitchen always seems to stay hot.  So here's what I've decided to do.  I'm making some good old sandwiches, with chips, fresh fruit, and some nice cold lemonade!  How's that for a refreshing, light dinner.

So now that I've rambled enough about this heat and the things I'm going to do to keep us nice and cool, I'd like to know how the weather is in your part of town and what you do to keep yourself warm/cool?  Just curious...

Oh and I hope you don't have a copyright on those because I WILL be stealing ideas :)  Have a great day!!!

Ooops!  Almost forgot.  I wanted to also share a graduation card I made recently.

It's been a while...

Okay so it's been over a month since I've written - bad Mely!  Not good!!  I've been doing okay, same old same old - working, taking care of my children (3 + 1 husband = 4 lol), and everything else.  Well in the mix of all my jobs, I have actually been able to do some scrapbooking.  Especially now that my 2 y/o son is actually curious of what lies in his toy box and has been giving himself more playtime - meanwhile, mommy is scrapping away :)  So here are a couple of layouts I've made in the past couple of weeks.  Hope you enjoy them.

Oh and just an fyi...I'm very open to suggestions, tips, and any ideas as to what I can add to these pages or future pages.  Thanks for watching :)

Recent Layouts

Wow two posts in one day, I'm on a roll today huh?  Aside from sharing my mom's Mother's Day card, I also wanted to share these three layouts I made last week.  Again, these were created in many many episodes lol, but the good thing is that they're done.  The Halloween layout is of my children in October 2009.  The other two layouts are centered around my cousin who left us back in June 2008 to cancer.  He lived to be 27 years old and he is greatly missed.  He was always the life of the party and always made us laugh, never a dull moment with him around....miss him so much!

Mother's Day Card

Hi Everybody!!

Just wanted to share something super exciting for me lol.  Although it took me all day to make because a certain little somebody (Jordan - my 2 y/o lol) kept on wanting mommy time every time I sat down to do work on this card, it is now finished!!  YAAAAYYY!!!!

I made this Mother's Day card for my mom.  Knowing her, she'll get it and call me crying and will hardly get two words out.  She's got very sensitive feelings when it comes to mooshy stuff like her daughter "making" a card versus buying one :)  So sweet!!  I'm very excited to get this call :)  Oh boy, now I'm teary-eyed...I wonder where I get that from LOL.

You all have a great day!!

Hugs,

Mely

p.s.  I would love to hear your comments...good or bad, I'm a big girl, I can take it :)

It's been a while...

Hello to you all.  I hope you are all doing well and that wherever you may be you are blessed with good health, much love, and happiness.

It's been a while since I've written to you all, but as we all know, life happens and we are left with no choice but to let it be and do what we can.  I had a series of events going on in the past month that prevented me from coming here and sharing with you all, BUT I'm happy to say that things are much better now and although not completely resolved (is it ever? lol), it's on its way and things are looking good :)

I am still busy taking care of some things which has prevented from doing much scrap-wise that is, so it may be a little while before I upload any new projects or fun events.  The moment there is a new creation in my hands, I will make sure to share as I would love to see what you've been working on as well.

I just wanted to come in here and say "Hi" and let you know I have not fallen off the face of the earth lol.  I'm really looking forward to becoming much more active here on my blog.  I have a lot of fun and great plans ahead...swaps, drawings/giveaways, and much more :)

I hope you all have a great rest of your week....oh and HAPPY EASTER!!!!

Hugs,

Mely

"Scraps" Challenge Anyone?

Today I was on the beach {www.thescrapbeach.ning.com} and I was having a discussion with Kathryn regarding all the leftover scraps us scrappers end up with after making our wonderful creations.  I must admit, I'm one that will keep every last piece in hopes that I may be able to use it for one thing or another.  I have scraps that have been stored away and untouched for several years.  After having this discussion, I was very inspired to actually put my scraps to good use. I have some very old scraps that just had to go in the trash, but I also had many newer scraps that I did not want to part with, so I sat at my table with all my junk out and this is what I came up with.  Everything on these cards comes from scraps, except for the "Thinking of You" chipboard sticker.

So here's the deal, I'm challenging YOU, yes YOU, to create something, anything using nothing but scraps.  You may embellish it, but the idea is to use those stored away scraps that are sitting there collecting dust.  Post a picture of your "scrap" creation with a comment and I will pick a lucky winner on Sunday, March 13th.  The winner will receive a little surprise scrappy item for participating :)  Please make sure there's a way for me to contact you should you win this challenge :}

My Recent Layouts

Well we had a very rainy weekend and since hubby is now sick and baby is getting over it, we stayed in ALL weekend lol.  It was nice for a change.  I liked being home and doing things that needed to be done around the house and I was even able to get in a little bit of scrapbooking in the mix of cooking, cleaning, being mommy, and playing nurse lol.  So here are my two layouts I created this weekend.  Let me know what you think.  I'm open to comments and suggestions.  Thanks :)

What am I doing?

Hi there!  Well what can I say other than I have no idea what I'm doing lol.  I've been fooling around with this blog for weeks and have yet to fully understand how to adjust things around here.  Somehow I managed to at least give it a semi-okay look.  I'll continue to mess around with it and see if I'm able to better the look of it.  I'm open to any suggestions.  Please be patient with me :)
